Our Principal Partner Mrs Christine Koo Gave a Talk on Underwriting and Claim Cases Study for the Hong Kong Underwriting and Claims Association

On 12th October 2016, our Principal Partner Mrs Christine Koo, together with Ms Tina Paap of RGC Reinsurance Group of America, gave talks in a seminar organized by the Hong Kong Underwriting and Claims Association (HKUCA). Mrs Koo's talk was on "Underwriting and Claim Cases Study".

Mrs Koo explained the relevant provisions of the Married Persons Status Ordinance (Cap 182) and explained with reference to specific case laws from Hong Kong, The UK, and Canada the "public policy" ground as a ground for deciding a claim.

The talk was well received, and the audience was enthusiastic about asking Mrs Koo various questions, such as (1) whether there is any way that a policy with one's wife and child as beneficiaries can be assigned to the bank as security for lending; and (2) how to tell the difference between fraud and honest misrepresentation/ non-disclosure.
