On 22nd August 2016, upon the invitation of the Hong Kong office of CPA Australia, our Principal Partner Mrs Christine Koo gave a talk at its Continuing Professional Development Workshop.

The title of the talk is: “Competition Law – What it is and how it relates to Professional Bodies?”.

Mrs Koo explained the background of the enactment of the new Competition Law and went through the new law in detail. She illustrated the First Conduct Rule and the Second Conduct Rule with many examples and informed the participants about what the Hong Kong Competition Commission has done so far.

Mrs Koo also discussed competition cases overseas, such as the dispute in Portugal over certain restriction on the professional accountants body’s training conducted by outside training bodies, and the challenge in the Netherlands regarding partnership between accounts and lawyers.

The talk was well received by   participants from CPA Australia who asked many questions on the new Competition Law and discussed various competition issues with Mrs Koo.
