Chan Wing Leung, Stanley - Consultant

 Key Qualifications

Stanley specializes in criminal litigation, in particular commercial crime and corruption-related cases. He also has considerable experiences in intellectual protection, Hong Kong immigration regulations, judicial reviews, succession, as well as corporate and commercial works.

Stanley is also experienced in handling works in relation to the PRC. He has served as in-house counsel and security director for two reputable multinational enterprises in Shanghai and Beijing during 2001 to 2007, specializing in intellectual property protection and internal investigation work. Stanley is well-conversant with PRC affairs and has a wealth of PRC connections due to his experience in the mainland. He has developed substantial work profile on advising mainland Chinese clients in various legal matters.

Stanley has been enthusiastic in providing pro bono services to the community. On behalf of the Law Society of Hong Kong, he frequently gives lectures to schools and NGOs, as well as contributes articles on legal knowledge to the public. He is also honorary legal advisor to several organizations, including the Police Inspectors’ Association. He actively participates in alumni affairs of the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and is presently a mentor under the mentorship schemes organized by United College and the Faculty of Law.

Stanley was admitted as a solicitor in Hong Kong in 1994. Before his legal career, Stanley served the Hong Kong Police Force for 14 years. During 1981 to 1985, he was awarded the police scholarship to study Government and Public Administration at the Chinese University of Hong Kong, whereupon he was awarded his Bachelor of Social Science degree. He was as a Senior Police Inspector immediately before he left the Hong Kong Police Force to read law at Cardiff University in 1988. Since he joined the profession, he had practised for seven years in Hong Kong law firms, until he was head-hunted to work for various multinational enterprises in Shanghai and Beijing for a better part of a decade as in-house counsel and security director, supervising their risk management and intellectual property protection departments. Prior to joining this firm in 2009, Stanley had spent eight years working in People’s Republic of China and South East Asia, accumulating vast experience in anti-counterfeiting and risk management.
